FAQs

IS IT REQUIRED TO TAKE DRIVER’S ED?

HOW LONG DOES THE COURSE TAKE?

In Maryland, anyone who has never had a license is required to take a driver’s ed, regardless of age or experience. If you have a valid license from another country, you only have to take the Drug & Alcohol class.

It varies, but right now it is taking roughly ten to twelve weeks to complete the entire course from start to finish. This is only an estimate, and it could be shorter or longer, depending on circumstances such as when you’re available and how busy we are.

DO I NEED A LEARNER’S PERMIT?

HOW MUCH TIME DO I HAVE TO COMPLETE IT?

You have up to two years to complete the course. If you have not paid your tuition and finished the course within two years (24 months), your records will be erased, and you will have to start over from the beginning.

You will have to get a learner's permit to be enrolled in the in-car session, but you can start the classes without it. Everyone, regardless of age or experience, is required to get a learner’s permit.

WHAT IS DRIVER IMPROVEMENT PROGRAM?

HOW DO I GET A LEARNER’S PERMIT?

This Program means that you've either received a moving violation, acquired 5-7 points within two years, or need to have your license reinstated. MVA requires you to take the class within 30 days of receiving the notice, or else your license will be suspended.

You must take and pass a written test and vision screen at the MVA. There are fees to pay for MVA.
